The management of spinal issues and back pain can involve many different aspects of care including surgery, pain management and physiotherapy. Here at Elite Spine we have access to some of the best clinical physiotherapists in Ireland with decades of experience in the field.
Physiotherapy is one of the core strategies used worldwide in the prevention, treatment and recuperation post surgery so having the latest evidence based treatments at your disposal will greatly benefit you as we get you back to your normal activities of daily living
Following surgery, as an in-patient you will be seen by an orthopaedic physiotherapist. You will be given specific advice and shown excercises to enhance your recovery. They will show you how to get in and out of bed, use the stairs, stretching excercises and create an individual walking programme for when you go home. Walking is one of the best excercises you can do following spinal surgery. You may initially experience ups and downs post operatively and that’s normal. The research shows the earlier you get active, stay positive and take control you are more likely to see better results.
6 weeks after your surgery you will attend our post operative clinic. You will be reviewed by the Elite Spine team including a physiotherapist who will continue to advise you on your progress and recovery and further assist you on meeting your rehabilitation goals.
